With a background in education and vocal development (including studies at Monash University), Lynn brings warmth, structure, and deep insight to every session. Her work has helped shape emerging stars, seasoned performers, and the next generation of coaches. Together with David, she’s built a legacy of excellence, compassion, and world-class vocal training that reaches singers across Australia—and beyond.

Lynn founded the Children’s Singing Academy a few decades ago and specialises in coaching young voices from the age of six and up.
“Nurturing young singers has always been my life’s passion. It requires a careful balance of encouragement, confidence-building, and strong foundational technique. Parents often don’t realise this is where the battle is won or lost — the right coaching truly matters.”

Every student is accepted by audition only, so we can maintain the same standard that’s produced some of Australia’s biggest names in music.
And every lesson is live and online, with both David and Lynn in the session—no fillers, no substitutes.

When we decided on the name “Singing the Art of the Heart” for our online classes, we were determined to help produce some of the most beautiful, emotive, and technically brilliant singers on the planet. In essence, to restore the “lost art” of singing.
Sadly, in our over-commercialised world, singing has become a lost art form due to AI, auto-tune, and emerging technologies.
Today, there is so much manipulation that can make any singer sound good. In other words, there is a slow killing of real talent, as it’s being slowly replaced and destroyed.
Our goal at Singing the Art of the Heart is to create “real singers”, “real artists” who don’t need technology to sound good or be creative.
It is almost like we are on a quest to hold onto — and pass on to a new generation — the skills and techniques of some of the great voices of the past.
It’s going back to a base of realness, real talent, and a lost authenticity.
Yes — learn to sing in key, breathe, build beautiful tones, and have a solid technique.
This is how we have built national champion after national champion, and a list of incredible voices for over three decades.
Our quest is also to bring back “the heart” in music — songs with meaningful lyrics and beautiful melodic lines.
This is our mindset and mission in every class: to produce some of the greatest voices on the planet.
Touring in Melbourne and Sydney as the support act to US superstar Patti Labelle changed my life in so many ways. Thank you to my US manager then Jerome Philips who made this happen!
I was a young singer and coach and had always used a traditional scales only approach to train my students.
This is when I was first introduced to the power of Gospel singing and training with Gospel music.
In our chats Patti expressed to me that she had learnt all her singing in Church.
She then gave me a brief mentoring session on the power of this approach.
Watching her sing live I was overwhelmed as she sung notes, riffs and variations I had never heard anyone do. She attributed this to her gospel training and time singing at church. Every night during the tour watching her and talking to her was like a master class in singing. It was light bulb moment and a turning point in my coaching style and life.
She would always invite me to join a prayer circle with her band and then we would pray for the success of the performances. This was tradition , this was Gospel. Elvis did it , Michael Jackson did it and now I was doing it with Patti and her band. I always felt humbled and honoured to be included To this day with the permission of students and parents we incorporate this tradition of the greats , we pray before classes and invite students to join in. If anyone would prefer not to we gladly respect this , however they will need to learn and sing gospel songs as part of the lessons.
We have always had an open minded approach to coaching and have always respected an individuals personal choice of religion and the power of personal choice. We never push religion on anyone but pray if asked to respectfully.
We simply use the gospel approach as means to coach and make singers the best they can be.
We now combine a traditional scales approach with Gospel training!
Out of this approach birth a new generation of local and international stars that I never would have imagined.
